Tips For Life: Proactivity Takes Practice

July 2nd, 2009 by admin

I recently read an interesting article about the differences between proactive and reactive people. The concepts are simple, yet insightful if we take an honest look at ourselves.
Proactivity- is more than “taking initiative” it also means that we take responsibility for our lives and our actions.
Proactive people do not blame circumstances or conditions for the way they behave. Their behavior is due to their own choices, based on their values-not the circumstances or conditions that surround them.
Reactive people are affected by their environment. I.e. if they do not like rain/snow, and it is raining/snowing, they chose to be negatively affected by that outside physical condition

To Change our situation, we need to first focus on US, not our outside situation. That is being Proactive (taking personal responsibility).  Like anything else, it just takes a conscious effort and …..practice.
