Your Logo Can Mean So Much More: Wear an ID Lanyard or Name Tag

It is important for companies to balance their drive for growth with the social responsibility of giving back to the community. Businesses can build positive recognition in both these areas by actively displaying their logo wherever possible when they participate.

Any business that has competitors is knows all too well the prodding motives to stay ahead of the game for whatever they offer.  Today, however, the “Sell, sell!” mentality is constantly countered by the growing concern for corporate social responsibility (a.k.a. Public Relations or giving back).  Naturally, balancing these two ends of the spectrum can generate the smart compromise that drives your business onward and upward.

One tool for achieving this balance, which mustn’t go overlooked, is your company’s logo.  Most likely you designed your logo with the intent that it would become a recognizable icon to potential buyers, representing your type of products or quality of service.  However, that same logo, associated with charitable causes, can also produce a wealth of positive impressions and emotions towards your company from the general public.  It can be a non-obtrusive way to open doors and teach the public about your services.  Even if they are not immediate purchasing candidates, subconsciously they may become ambassadors for your business when someone they know needs your services.

The different ways to build association with charitable causes are diverse, and it is not necessary to have a multi-million dollar advertising budget in order to generate positive association.  Below are a few thrifty ways you can get involved and generate logo recognition at the same time.

1)      Send representatives from your company to volunteer at charitable events.  Provide them with a printed or embroidered shirt that displays your logo.  Have them wear a name tag or ID lanyard with your company’s colors for extra brand recognition.

2)      If a sponsorship fee is too expensive, offer to donate a unique door prize for a raffle drawing.  The presenters can tell the audience who has donated the gift, and often times you can gain as much recognition as the big sponsors get, for under $30.   Unusual, yet fun gift certificates and personalized items like custom engraved jewelry boxes really grab attention.  Make sure your logo is on their somewhere and your business card is included with the gift.

3)      Get involved with planning committees!  The committees will network, plan, and make the event happen.  The committee members, and the companies they represent, are almost always recognized repeatedly throughout the event and in any handouts given.

In advertising, studies show that it can take up to 17 different impressions on potential customers before they decide to act on your message.  As a company builds itself, it is extremely beneficial to ensure that a number of these impressions come from both call-to-action advertising and positive association.  In both cases, your logo is the vital vehicle in building your brand.
